After you apply you’ll receive a confirmation of your application. Our jobs tend to have a closing day, so you’ll likely hear from us shortly after that time. We’ll either let you know the reasons why you have not been successful on this occasion, or get in touch to book a telephone call to learn more about you.

It’s always a telephone discussion first; we will ask you to talk about your values and aspirations during that initial conversation.

After that, the selection process would involve some face-to-face meetings. 

There always will be at least one interview! You will meet with the diverse panel made up of at least two co-owners, one of whom will be the hiring manager. We prefer structured interviews where we can find out a bit more about your motivations, and learn about what engages you and what your plans are for the future. Your potential line manager would also ask you some technical questions if appropriate. 

If you were successful following the first meeting, the second stage would likely involve one of the following options, or a combination of both.

We might invite you to come and spend some time with the team in the office. This is a really good way of learning what the day-to-day job might look like and discovering if working at Castlefield is for you. You'll meet the wider team, have a lovely coffee from our kitchen, we show you round the office and you’ll be able to ask as many questions as possible.

Another (shorter) interview. All our interviews are chaired by a diverse panel of at least two co-owners to ensure fairness of the process. During the second interview, you’d likely meet some other co-owners from the firm too, often including one of the senior leaders. During this interview, we’d focus more on the values, your motivations and aspirations, by now we probably know you could do the technical aspects of the job! But what we need to know is if you have what it takes to be a co-owner.

Whatever the precise process we choose we aim to keep you informed throughout and want to provide you with the feedback within 5 days of your visit to us.

It is important for us that all interviews are chaired by a diverse panel. There will be at least two co-owners, one of whom will be the hiring manager, typically the People Manager of the team you are applying to join. 

We often invite other colleagues from the team to join too. Because the interview is a two-way process we feel it is important you get opportunity to meet some people you’d be working with before you actually commit to doing so! 

During the second stage, you’ll meet one of our senior leaders, they do like to introduce themselves and talk about what matters at Castlefield. 

We are conscious not to make our process too lengthy and we value the time you invest in applying to us. It is a small team here at Castlefield, that deals with recruitment, but we aim to keep you updated about the next steps throughout. We aim to have a gap no longer than 2 weeks between the initial telephone conversation and the second interview.
